JBL Challenges Sonos With New Authentics Multi-Room Home Speakers

JBL has stepped up to the plate against Sonos with its fresh lineup of Authentics speakers designed for multi-room connectivity; While Sonos has been a pioneer in this space since 2013, JBL’s new series comes packed with features that could give Sonos a run for its money.

The three models in the Authentics series have multi-room audio support, automatic self-tuning, and flexible connectivity options via Bluetooth, WiFi, and Ethernet. All three products can concurrently run both Google Assistant and Alexa, setting a precedent in the industry for such dual-assistant capability.

Drawing design inspiration from its 70s L100 speaker, JBL has given the Authentics series a distinctive look with a grid-patterned Quadrex grille, leather-wrapped aluminum frame, and a black and gold color scheme.
